Personal Branding Interview Sharon Lechter - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career Today, I spoke to Sharon Lechter, who is is coauthor, with Robert Kiyosaki, of the international bestseller Rich Dad, Poor Dad. Her latest book is called Think and Grow Rich: Three Feet from Gold: Turn Your Obstacles into Opportunities!. In this interview, Sharon talks about how to find your inner passion, how she built her brand, how to become more motivated and more. How does one find their inner passion? As we outlined in Three Feet From Gold, start by making a list of the things you enjoy then make another list of where your talents are. When you can find something that engages both something you enjoy and something where you excel it will ignite your inner passion. How did you originally get connected with Robert Kiyosaki? How did that partnership work? I met Robert in 1996, when he visited my husband seeking his counsel on patenting the boardgame CASHFLOW. He asked my help in writing a book.and Rich Dad Poor Dad was the result. He then asked me to be his partner in building the Rich Dad company. Robert, his wife Kim and I built the Rich Dad Companies together for 10 years, we were blessed with success with selling over 27 million books in over 100 countries and 50 languages. Our message of taking financial responsibility for yourself was the right message at the right time. In 2008, I sold me interests back to them in order to build my own company Pay Your Family First and to work with The Napoleon Hill Foundation, and Three Feet From Gold is our first book together! We have three other books in process as well. If someone is lazy, how can they become more motivated? For things to change, you must change. Someone who is naturally lazy must find the need to change firstthrough hardship, or inspiration. I always recommend inspirationThink and Grow Rich inspired me and I hope that Three Feet From Gold will provide that inspiration to people seeking a better life today. What opportunities opened up for you after the success of Rich Dad Poor Dad? My work on financial literacy and financial education began in 1992, the success of Rich Dad Poor Dad, by being on the New York Times Bestseller list for over 6 years was very supportive in validating my work on financial literacy. In addition, in 2008 President Bush appointed me to the Presidents Advisory Council on Financial Literacy, a council I am still on, now serving President Obama. Our goal is to increase the financial literacy of Americans. How does one discover their own personal success formula? Can you copy someone else? In Three Feet From Gold we outline your Personal Success Equation, ((P + T) x A x A) + F = Personal Success Equation (Passion + Talent) x Association x Action) + Faith = Personal Success Equation While you success equation may appear the same as someone elses. You willingness to take the right action, with the right association and above all, to have the faith in yourself is the secret sauce that will make your success unique. May you all find great success!
